The preparations continue at a frantic pace for Knit Nation. Sarah has been sewing like there is no tomorrow, while more Lego pieces are making their way across Europe to make into stitch markers.
The idea of doing such a big event is a little scary. We are a little nervous as we have not done anything on this scale in the 12 months since we started The Bothered Owl. We are also very excited to do such a big event, and meet lots of other like-minded knitters and crocheters. Sarah has designed some amazing bags and needle envelopes that will be on sale at Knit Nation. We’re looking forward to seeing people’s reactions to the items we have put so much into. That’s the trouble with hand made things – they take longer to make, so more of your time and effort is invested in each piece. But that’s also what makes handmade worth it.
We have decided to have a theme on the stall, which developed from trying to think of ways of displaying the Lego stitch markers. The theme will have a homely feel. We will be using household items to display the various items that we are selling. Some of the items that we are using include: cups and saucers, rammekin dishes, letter holder and some shelves ( brand new and will be built on the day).
One of the things that we want to do is have knitted food on our stall. We are asking our readers to send us some knitted food i.e biscuits, cakes etc. and some business cards. In return, we will display a few of these items on our stall. If anyone asks who makes these of us we could then give them your card. We are not looking for a lot of items and would love to make these ourselves but we just don’t have the time. Once Knit Nation is over we will happily send these back to you. If anyone is interested please let us know by emailing us email@example.com with details and photos.
We are also planning to hold a raffle at Knit Nation. Anyone who spends over £10 at our stall will be eligible to enter. We were very luck to acquire a special piece of Michael Miller “Knitmare” fabric which is now discontinued that we will make into a couple of items for the raffle. More on that closer to Knit Nation when it is created so that you can see pictures before the event.
Finally, we are just buying the last bits of fabric that we need and if anyone has any particular patterns or themes that they would like please leave a comment on this post.
